Awards & Fellowships

Recognizing the Future of AADPRT

Awards/fellowships are how the AADPRT family recognizes outstanding achievement in psychiatric residency training. There are recognition opportunities for residents/fellows, program administrators, and psychiatrists. Please consider submitting nominations to strengthen our graduate education community.

Nominees can win only one award in a given year. Winning institutions are not eligible to submit nominees for the award won for a two-year period (e.g. nominated in 2024 (won in 2025) is eligible to submit again in 2027).

Support Awards/Fellowships

Dr. Iverson Bell, Jr. Faculty Fellowship

The Dr. Iverson Bell, Jr. Faculty Fellowship Award promotes the professional growth of outstanding Underrepresented in Medicine (URiM) psychiatrists to create a pipeline for involvement within AADPRT and to provide recognition of the awardee’s potential to contribute to the field of psychiatry. There is a need for mentorship, support and recognition of faculty who are URiM, especially junior and mid-career faculty, to not only lift them up, but to hear their voices and acknowledge their contributions. AADPRT will benefit from supporting a diverse group of members to engage in the organization and increase pathways to leadership.

Theadia Carey serves as chair of this award and is offering mentorship to anyone wanting to go through the submission process. Email Theadia.
