Mission, History & Policies

Born in 1970, the American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training (AADPRT) works to further the education and professional development of psychiatry educators and program coordinators.

We welcome members to take advantage of our networking, educational offerings, and especially our annual meeting where the best and brightest gather to learn from one another and advance the field of psychiatry.

To better meet the nation’s mental healthcare needs, the mission of the American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training is to promote excellence in the education and training of future psychiatrists, and to best prepare them to meet challenges by fostering a transformative learning environment that promotes diversity, inclusion, and equity for all.
(Approved by the Executive Council March 3, 2020. Pending membership vote.)
