The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is seeking to recruit a psychiatrist to our clinical faculty to direct our Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program. We are interested in a mid-career, senior physician-scholar with interests in teaching, patient care, and research to lead a program with both inpatient and outpatient components in a major university-based institution.

For decades, UIC has excelled in the treatment of internalizing psychopathologies and has developed outstanding specialty programs in neuromodulation and bipolar disorder in the last few years. The inpatient and outpatient components of our Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program are staffed with an interdisciplinary team of dedicated individuals comprised of 9 psychiatrists, 10 psychologists, 3 advanced practice nurse practitioners and 5 licensed clinical social workers, providing a broad array of clinical options including diagnostic assessments, neuropsychological services and treatments including psychopharmacology, psychotherapy including couples and family therapy, and neuro modulation - ECT and rTMS. The Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program is the largest clinical division within the Department of Psychiatry, providing a unique and dynamic learning environment for our residents. The position includes teaching and supervision of residents and medical students in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as shared on-call duties. Strong candidates for this position should have administrative experience in leading clinical services involving multidisciplinary teams as well as extensive clinical experience in treating mood/anxiety disorders.

Research in the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program includes connectomics, digital psychiatry, neurosteroids, and health services with strong collaborations with other clinical and basic sciences departments, the School of Public Health, the Jane Addams School of Social Work, the College of Engineering, College of Allied Health Sciences, and the Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The University of Illinois Center for Depression and Resilience.

Department faculty lead the College of Medicine's Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP), the new Translational Neuroscience Institute and hold leadership roles in the NIH-funded Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences.

UIC Psychiatry is one of the largest departments in the Midwest, with a strong, nationally competitive General Psychiatry Residency Training Program with designated research and clinician-educator tracks and several fellowships, including Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Addictions, and Women's Mental Health. We are also one of the top ranked teaching departments at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, one of the largest medical school in the country, with both preclinical and clinical teaching and mentoring opportunities. Our clinical services focus on diverse and vulnerable patients, serving predominantly minority and economically underserved populations on the South and West Sides of Chicago. Our inpatient psychiatry unit, located in the main teaching hospital, includes the only Med-Psych service in Chicago, as well as the only unit that regularly accommodates pregnant patients. We are also a nationally known basic and clinical research enterprise, ranked first in Chicago and top 20 by NIH funding, with foci in mood and anxiety disorders, women's mental health, late life depression, addictions, and mental health services, with multiple opportunities for collaboration and translation of research towards serving our clinical populations.

Applicants must be a physician or physician-scientist and have completed an ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) accredited residency in Psychiatry. The applicant must possess or be eligible for an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Illinois and an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license, and must be Board-certified or Board-eligible in Psychiatry.
