Medical Education Attending Psychiatrists

Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, a nationally known psychiatric center, and the largest operated by the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) in New York City, seeks two psychiatrists to join its dynamic academic Department of Medical Education and Residency Training. Creedmoor’s mission is to provide compassionate, high quality mental health services for individuals who reside in Queens County. Creedmoor’s Department of Medical Education and Residency Training in Psychiatry provides a unique opportunity to train residents and medical students at a public hospital in one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse counties in the United States.  Creedmoor aims to be a leader in the network of psychiatric care in NYC in collaboration with patients, families, advocates and communities.  The Creedmoor Residency Program has focused on providing high quality, evidence-based care for all individuals in need of mental health services, including those with chronic mental illness, underserved populations, the uninsured, undocumented immigrants and those with forensic histories.  Residents are trained in a range of therapeutic modalities including psychotherapies, psychopharmacology and other somatic treatments, psychosocial therapies and recovery-oriented services at Creedmoor and at participating sites exposing them to the depth and breadth of diverse clinical experience that promotes a culture of life-long learning and values compassionate ethical care. 

Creedmoor is looking for psychiatrists who  are committed to work with underserved populations and have a strong interest and dedication to teaching and supervising residents and medical students, to administration pertinent to fulfilling  ACGME program and institutional requirements, and to providing for continuing medical education to all staff members.

Located in Queens Village bordering Nassau County, Creedmoor sponsors a fully ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency Training Program, the only such program sponsored by OMH, affiliated with the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. There are 16 Residents in the four-year program who rotate at Creedmoor, the Columbia University Irving Medical Center, New York Presbyterian Hospital; Queens Hospital Center and other sites. 

Applicants must be Board Certified, preferably with at least three years of educational and/or administrative experience, and have a New York State Medical License.  The psychiatrist positions are full-time and/or part-time (50% or above). 

Excellent New York State fringe benefits include health insurance, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage, paid vacation, personal and sick leave, 12 paid holidays, a pension plan, and employer-sponsored, tax-deferred supplemental savings plan with a wide variety of options.  Creedmoor Psychiatrists can enhance their earnings by providing additional voluntary coverage on evening, night and weekend shifts.  Qualified candidates may be able to enroll in a loan repayment program offering up to $150,000 over 5 years with a 5-year service commitment.
