Associate Program Director / Director of the Outpatient Psychotherapy Program / General Adult Outpatient Psychiatrist

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine is recruiting a dynamic and dedicated psychiatrist to join our general psychiatry residency education leadership team as an Associate Program Director (APD) while also serving as a full-time clinical attending within the adult outpatient psychiatry program at the Emory Brain Health Center and the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at Emory Decatur Hospital.

We are seeking a faculty member who brings a strong commitment to education, clinical excellence, and academic innovation. The APD will receive 25% salary support for educational responsibilities:

  • 10% for general residency program administration, including curriculum development, resident evaluation, recruitment, faculty development, and accreditation efforts

  • 15% to oversee resident psychotherapy training and activities within the Outpatient Psychotherapy Training Program, ensuring high-quality instruction and supervision across therapeutic modalities

The remaining 75% of the position will be devoted to clinical care and academic activities in the outpatient psychiatry program which could include work in TMS, TRD, IOP and the general outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include providing direct patient care, contributing to program development, teaching psychiatry residents, and engaging in departmental administrative efforts. Opportunities exist to participate in research and quality improvement initiatives.

The candidate will share in faculty call responsibilities for inpatient services at Emory Decatur Hospital and offer telephonic support to behavioral health teams.

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree with completion of an accredited psychiatry residency

  • Board eligibility or certification in Psychiatry

  • Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Georgia

  • Demonstrated interest in psychiatric education and program development

This is an open academic rank position. Salary and faculty rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and include an attractive benefits package.
