Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Clinical Psychiatry in Neuropsychiatry

Application Deadline: September 30, 2019

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), College of Medicine (COM), is recruiting a full-time Clinician Educator faculty member to join the Neuropsychiatry Program.

The Neuropsychiatry program in the Department of Psychiatry has an active fellowship in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry (BNNP), accredited by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS) in collaboration with the Behavioral Neurology section in the Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation. The Neuropsychiatry Program has a close connection with the strong clinical and education programs in Neuropsychology also housed within the Department of Psychiatry, as well as collaborations with neuroradiology, neuropathology, the Jesse Brown VA and Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital who all participate in our BNNP fellowship training program. Clinical programs include memory and aging, head injury, outpatient neuropsychiatry clinic, inpatient medical-psychiatry and consultation-liaison services, electroconvulsive therapy, and transcranial magnetic stimulation. The Clinician Educator position will be primarily outpatient-based but can flexibly involve other clinical activities depending on the candidate's preference. There is significant opportunity and support for the teaching of BNNP fellows, psychiatry and neurology residents, and medical students, including during the psychiatry clerkship and those on a popular neuropsychiatry elective rotation for senior medical students.

UIC Psychiatry is one of the largest Psychiatry departments in the Midwest, with an excellent General Psychiatry Residency Training Program, and fellowships in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Addictions, and Women’s Mental Health in addition to our BNNP Fellowship.  We have a strong commitment to providing health care to the underserved populations in Chicago and are well positioned to participate in many new and exciting developments in the area of mental health and behavior.

The successful candidate must have an MD or MD/PhD and should be eligible for an unrestricted Illinois State Medical License, and be ABPN certified or eligible in Psychiatry and UCNS certified or eligible in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry. This individual needs to be eligible for an appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in the Clinician/Educator track in the College of Medicine.

Evaluation of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. For full consideration, applicants must apply online at http://jobs.uic.edu, and reference Job Id #119549 and submit a CV and a letter of interest, and three (3) letters of references by 9/30/2019.
