Psychiatry Residency Program Director

Beaumont Health, an 8-hospital, medical school-affiliated academic medical center in southeast Michigan (Dearborn) seeks a program director to develop a new psychiatric residency program based in a new 150-bed mental health hospital for adult, geriatric and pediatric patients.  The program may also utilize existing and new ambulatory facilities within the system. This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a dynamic individual who enjoys the challenge of creating new and innovative programs.


The new program director will have input in designing the new mental health hospital, ensuring that the physical facility promotes a strong educational program.  The new program director will be responsible for recruiting faculty, developing the curriculum and spearheading the ACGME accreditation process. 


Candidates must have at least 3 years of psychiatry faculty experience.  Previous experience as a program director or associate program director preferred.  Some experience in medical education administration is highly desired.  Past accomplishments in curricular innovation and program or project leadership are preferred.


The new facility is scheduled to open in 2021.  The new hospital will serve those in need of inpatient treatment for mental illnesses, as well as outpatient services.  Substance use disorder treatment will also be offered there for those diagnosed with a mental health disease.  The hospital will house multidisciplinary teams including psychiatrists, internal medicine physicians, other specialists, certified clinical pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, therapists and other clinical support staff.
