RE:  Post Peds Portal Project

You may have seen notice of the ACGME approval of an Educational Innovation Project of a 36 month combined residency in general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry for physicians who have completed a pediatrics residency. The project allows for a pilot of up to ten programs. The ABPN has recognized this pilot and will allow
graduates to sit for the board exam in general psychiatry and, upon successful completion, to then sit for the certification exam in child and adolescent psychiatry, as it now does for traditional programs.

The ACGME/RRC is responsible for the monitoring of this pilot, but will seek input from a number of stakeholders, including AADPRT. A number of relevant documents and a website are attached to this message. Pilot programs may begin as early as July, 2008.  A letter on intent is due July 1, 2007, and the full application by August 31, 2007.  The AADPRT Child Portals Task Force is available to respond to questions that members may have and serve as a resource to programs considering applying to become a pilot site.

You may download the following documents for further information.  If you have problems with accessing the documents, please contact Lucille Meinsler in the AADPRT Executive Office and she will forward the documents to you.
