THE MISSION OF The American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training (AADPRT) is to promote excellence in the education and training of future psychiatrists. AADPRT welcomes membership applications from institutions and individuals involved and interested in the education of psychiatry residents.

There are three CATEGORIES of membership in AADPRT: Institution and their respective Individual members, Affiliate members and Honorary members.  Institutional members are psychiatric hospitals and departments of psychiatry, or other institutions which maintain accredited psychiatry and psychiatric subspecialty residency programs. Each institutional sponsor may have multiple individuals as part of its membership, including Training Directors of general or subspecialty residency programs, Associate/Assistant Directors, as well as Chairs and other faculty. Others interested in the association and its mission may apply as Affiliate Members. Individuals who have rendered significant contributions to psychiatry or psychiatric residency training may be nominated by AADPRT members to the Executive Committee to be appointed as Honorary members. 

Members of AADPRT have access to the AADPRT webpage, listserv, subscriptions to academic psychiatry and a lower registration fee for the annual meeting, as well as liaison to national organizations.  AADPRT’s webpage provides a ‘virtual training office’ with information on clinical skills assessment, curricula, competency tools, forms and program administration tools. 

AADPRT provides members with a collaborative group of colleagues with shared interests in psychiatric education.
